Non-Public Agency Services

Non-Public Agency Services

Brocks is a state approved NPA special education provider. We work with many school districts across Washington State.

Brock’s Academy proudly offers educational services for those children referred by their public school district.  We are happy to respond to questions you might have and you can visit any time but student placements are an IEP team decision.

We collaborate closely with the student’s IEP team to craft the specific program that will help the student find success.  The main goal when assessing each student’s needs is to remove any barrier that have so far prevented the student’s successful school participation.  We take into consideration every detail to design the fit that will be most supportive to the student.  We have many teachers who have backgrounds in therapy, ABA and mentoring.  All our teachers are trained and certified Right Response.

Brock’s Academy is the only non-public agency in the State of Washington to provide full customization services.

Customization of location

Brock’s Academy staff can teach students at their current neighborhood schools or at another location within the school district, at our site in Woodinville, at the student’s home or meet at a local library.  We are the only non-public agency school to be able to provide this level of flexibility.

Customization of the school day schedule

Many students are unable to attend school full-time.  We can provide modified school hours and time schedules to meet the student’s needs.

For example, we have students that can only attend school 2 hours a day, we have students that attend 5 hours a day, we have students that come only on certain days of the week.  We also have students who start their school day at 12:30 pm while others come at 8:00 am.

Customization of dual enrollments

When it is considered best for the student, we make it possible for them to split their day between their regular public school and Brock’s Academy by providing dual enrollment.

For example, a student may start their day at their public school and then be transported to Brock’s at noon to finish their day at our site.  Another student might start their day at their school with one of Brock’s instructors for periods 1 and 2 then finish their day attending regular general education classes.

Customization of Strategic School Transitions

Brock’s Academy provides flexibility in planning and implementing strategies to transition homebound and/or students experiencing school refusal into their public school setting.

For example, with a homebound student, we begin by visiting the student in their home to gain their trust and start the process of transition back to their public school site.  We encourage students to “test the water” by visiting Brock’s Academy site and slowly and gradually increase the number of visits and amount of time they stay.  The pace at which this occurs depends on the needs of each student.  Once a transition from home into school at Brock’s is made, a strategy for transition to their home public school is implemented when that makes sense.

Customization of the classroom environment

On-site we can customize the classroom environment to meet the needs of each student.  Our classrooms are equipped with noise-cancelling machines, sensory toys, wobble chairs, dimming lights, bean bags or not depending on the student requirements.  We recently expanded our site and have many more classrooms available.
