Study Tips for Finals Week

Finals week can be a stressful time for students, whether you are in middle school, high school or college.  The pressure to do well on tests can cause anxiety.

 Some tips to ease the stress include the following: 

  1. Student Studying in LibraryOrganize your school work and prepare your review paperwork one week in advance.
  2.  Find a quiet place to study.
  3.  Read through your study review packet and highlight important information.
  4.  Make flash cards and practice reading them.
  5.  Find a partner or a study group to work with.
  6.  Repetition and memorization.
  7.  Get a good night’s sleep the night before.  The more alert you are during the exam, the better you will do.
  8. Take care of yourself, eat a nutritious breakfast and stay hydrated.
  9.  Don’t panic!  You will survive the test.
  10.  Take breaks in between studying.
  11.  Switch subjects if you are feeling burnt out on one.  Then revisit it again later.
  12.  Test yourself.  Take practice tests if available.
  13.  Go over the materials right before the exam.
  14.  During the exam, read each question thoroughly.
  15.  Don’t rush, take your time to finish the exam in the time allowed.
