Have a Fun Hour of Code at Home

Yeah for my son’s elementary school librarian!

code-graphicMy son came home excited about the Flappy Bird game he coded during library time. My junior high son wanted to see it and then for the next hour the two of them coded a Star Wars game we all had fun playing.

Like many parents I have tried to harness their deep love of video games into coding tutorials so they could build their own games. All I heard was, “boring”.

So image my joy when my children decided coding is fun. To get excited about writing code they just needed slick pre-drawn graphics, ready-made coding blocks and branded characters.

The Hour of Code website has them all.

Here is a sampling of the available Hour of Code tutorials you can use at home to host your very own Hour of Code event. Make sure you have them hit the button so they can see the code they created.

Happy Hour of Code!
